Hannah Goodman is a Technical Specialist supporting Calyx’s life sciences patent practice. Her work includes prior art research and patentability analysis, with a particular focus on small-molecule inventions and other innovations in chemistry and the life sciences.
Hannah earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Arizona, where her research focused on the synthesis and characterization of bioactive compounds, including cyclic peptides, glycopeptides, and glycolipid surfactants. Her doctoral work included the development of glycosylated oxytocin analogues for pain and substance use disorder, as well as an NMR-based method for evaluating blood-brain barrier penetration. Her research has been published in ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters and Methods in Enzymology. Earlier in her graduate studies, she also worked on tunable organic fluorophores for imaging, sensing, and photocatalysis.
Following her doctoral studies, Hannah was a postdoctoral research scientist in Professor Dalibor Sames’ laboratory at Columbia University, where she studied the pharmacology of ibogaine and related alkaloids. Her work combined medicinal chemistry with receptor, transporter, and behavioral studies, giving her experience with both the synthesis of compounds and the evaluation of their biological activity.
